AP Networking practice

Identifying security needs of my device

Practice identifying attack types, describing the harms they cause, and selecting the most appropriate security control from a given scenario.

This practice set covers AP Networking Unit 1.3 — device security threat identification and controls. Questions will ask you to interpret scenarios involving:

  • Distinguishing digital attacks from physical attacks
  • Identifying phishing, shoulder surfing, and malware by their characteristics
  • Recognizing the harms caused by PII exposure, identity theft, and credential compromise
  • Describing the effects of malware on device and network behavior
  • Selecting the correct control (email filtering, MFA, privacy screen, antivirus, updates) for each threat
  • Evaluating layered security scenarios with multiple controls in play
