Troubleshooting my SOHO network

Practice identifying the root causes of common small office/home office network problems, interpreting diagnostic tool output, and selecting the most appropriate solution.

This practice set covers AP Networking Unit 2.1 — diagnosing and resolving SOHO network connectivity issues. Questions will ask you to interpret real-world scenarios involving:

  • Reading indicator lights on routers and access points
  • Identifying when to restart a router, reseat a cable, or replace a connector
  • Interpreting ping output including response times and packet loss percentages
  • Recognizing APIPA addresses (169.254.x.x) and loopback addresses (127.0.0.1) with ipconfig
  • Selecting the correct diagnostic tool or solution for a described symptom
  • Distinguishing between congestion, hardware failure, and configuration errors
