Practice interpreting MAC address structures, reading hexadecimal notation, understanding IP address categories, and applying knowledge of network devices and address tables.

This practice set covers AP Networking Unit 2.2 — network addressing and device identification. Questions will ask you to interpret scenarios involving:

  • Identifying the OUI and device identifier within a MAC address
  • Distinguishing between network nodes and hosts (endpoints)
  • Converting between decimal and hexadecimal values
  • Recognizing the three MAC address notation formats
  • Understanding how a switch uses the CAM table to forward frames
  • Identifying IP address types: private, public, APIPA, and loopback
  • Comparing MAC and IP addressing and their respective roles
